Gastritis diet: menus, recipes and principles of family nutrition

Nutritional therapy for gastritis can relieve stomach discomfort and pain caused by inflammation.

The correct selection of the menu helps to improve the treatment effect and normalize digestion. The diet for gastritis includes treatment stations 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. The choice of the specific menu depends on the acidity level and the stage of the disease. Tables 1, 4, and 5 have several options. In the main diet, it is indicated by letters and used according to the severity of the symptoms and the period of the disease (acute, declining, chronic form).

How much gastritis should you diet? The period of aggravation and the first few months must be strictly controlled. But ideally, patients diagnosed with gastritis should follow the recommended form during remission. However, menu extensions and holiday exceptions are possible. If only within a reasonable range, and we are not talking about coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and high-fat foods.

Diet for gastritis: basic rules

Regarding dietary arrangements for dietary gastritis at home, gastroenterologists recommend that patients follow five main rules.

Dietary rules for gastritis
  1. Food processing. For gastritis, the food must be heat-treated. Even raw vegetables and fruits are exceptions. Meat and fish are not snacks. These products are separated from bones, skin, and tendons, and are prepared in the form of meatballs, meatloaf, and cabbage rolls.
  2. Score menu. Foods for gastritis should be eaten regularly. However, you need to eat small amounts of food regularly. Ideally, patients eat four to five times every three hours a day. The last meal is no later than 19: 00. Patients diagnosed with gastritis should chew all food well.
  3. Drink plenty of liquids. With gastritis, you should drink a lot. Especially alkaline drinks. The following water quality is suitable for patients with gastritis: "Essentuki", "Borzhomi", "Mirgorodskaya". To remove carbon dioxide, uncork the bottle and place it in a bowl of warm water for about 20 minutes. In addition to medicinal water, patients with gastritis also showed compotes of dried fruits and fresh berries.
  4. The first course. Gastritis is essential in the diet of patients with gastritis. However, preference is for vegetarian recipes or second or third non-rich broth.
  5. Cooking food. Patients with gastritis should not eat hot or cold food. The food can be steamed, boiled or baked without crusting. Any fried, pickled, canned, or fermented food that is diagnosed as gastritis is impossible. Boil the porridge in water or half milk, without adding butter. In addition, when gastritis is aggravated and when there are severe clinical symptoms, it is best to follow the cooking recommendations prescribed by Therapeutic Diet 1. It was developed by Manuil Pevzner. In particular, it is preferable to consume food in a pure form. Use a sieve and mixer to beat the product into a soufflé or meat sauce. The No. 1 form is usually given during the exacerbation of peptic ulcer disease.

In many respects, the diet for gastritis is similar to the original recommended menu for children’s lives. There is no place for fat, fried and sweets. The dishes are free of spices and contain the least amount of spices. And in order to promote the digestion process, chop the food as much as possible.

Principles of a low-acid diet

The main task of the nutrition of this type of gastritis is to stimulate the production of enzymes and acids in the stomach and speed up the speed of food entering the intestines.

Slushy and liquid foods should be preferred, but unlike other forms of gastritis, acidic foods are acceptable, such as kefir, fresh cheese, and citrus fruits. Outside of the worsening period, you can even eat fried foods, but strictly not raw bread and do not limit the amount of oil. The temperature of the food should not be higher than 60 degrees and not lower than 15. The maximum calorie content in the daily diet is 2500-3000 kcal.

The dietary principles of high acidity gastritis

Regardless of the cause of gastric mucosal inflammation, eating habits must be followed when treating high acid gastritis.

It is similar to the treatment in the acute phase: fried, salted, smoked, spicy food, large amounts of liquid and pureed food, and a small portion are prohibited. The product should not stimulate the secretion of gastric juice, can not stay in the stomach for a long time, and can also irritate the mucous membrane. The principle of nutrition is basically the same as that of acute gastritis diet, but meat cakes and meatballs are added to the diet, the daily salt intake is slightly increased (up to 8 grams), and the use of baked goods is allowed. It is best to steam cooked food, stew, boil or roast, eat warm, and chew thoroughly.

The normal calorie intake for high acidity gastritis is 2200–2500 kcal. Usually, patients also need to prescribe vitamin complexes to make up for vitamin deficiencies.

Dietary principles in acute diseases

If the disease worsens, then it is reasonable to completely exclude all nutrition from the patient and allow the digestive system to rest during this period. If the acute illness is caused by poisoning or taking certain drugs, you must first flush the gastrointestinal tract and cause vomiting.

The first day shows drinking hot liquid and tea. The next day, if the patient's condition improves, he can gradually start eating liquid food. First, it is recommended to use a liquid soup made from milk and grains, meat and fish puree. Also allow:

  • Weak Tea
  • soup,
  • Jelly
  • Honey.

When exacerbated, it should be excluded from the diet:

  • Fresh vegetables and fruits,
  • Broth,
  • Fermented milk products
  • Carbonated drinks
  • coffee,
  • Candy
  • Any bakery product
  • Cheese.

All food should be steamed and slightly warm. The calorie content in the diet should not exceed 2000 kcal.
